The recipient’s copy of 1099 tax forms is an important document. Without this document in hand there is a big chance that many recipients of proceeds from brokers and barter exchange may fail to report the income accurately. Among other things, the tax form 1099-B mentions whether the gain or loss from the transactions is short term, long term or ordinary.
