Generally, payers prepare three copies of IRS tax forms 1099 – four if the payer is required to file one with the State or local tax authority and wants to keep one in the company’s records. The 1099 form that you see on this page is payer’s copy of 1099-B, which can also be used for filing with the local tax department.
